Casa Shattuck is a beautiful residential home in Portland, Oregon, registered and licensed in 2017 as an adult foster home through Multnomah County. Casa Shattuck is dedicated to serve senior residents in Portland and surrounding areas. We are located in SW Portland very close to downtown Portland, Oregon Zoo, Washington Square, and other local shopping centers, but also to OHSU, Providence St. Vincent and Kaiser Permanente Medical and Dental Office.

What is exactly an adult foster home?

 When elderly people are no longer able to care for themselves in their own homes, adult foster care may be an option. The goal of an adult foster home licensee is to provide care and services to residents while supporting their independence, choice and right to make decisions. Adult foster homes are single-family residences with up to 5 residents that offer 24-hour care in a home-like setting.They are less expensive, more home-like atmosphere for aging adults than larger facilities..

Before a family residence can operate and given a license, the home is inspected for safety while the operator and care staff are required to have a minimum of two years experience in caregiving. Also they need to attend required training and classes and to follow the licensing requirements for on-going operations. The care home's compliance is inspected yearly and periodically throughout the year by licensors through county and state to ensure that the home is operating safely following the state administrative rules.

 

Meet the owner 

Aura Circota is an experienced and compassionate Licensed Operator with many years of working in health care and especially with elderly. She started working in assisted living and hospital as a CNA studying different classes in pre-nursing field until decided to "build her own environment" where she could put her knowledge and love to work for people. She is a happy and energetic person who enjoys caring for others with compassion, empathy, and helping make days brighter. She, her husband and additional staff, trained caregivers make a very good supporting team in helping and offering to residents all the positive attributes for a good life.

We work with them to customize options that will make the life they want for themselves a reality.

Each staff member is cross-trained and is dedicated to work with up to 5 residents. Strong personal relationships flourish due to the high staff to resident ratio, and nature of the intimate home setting. Household life is centered around a warm and inviting hearth and a family beautiful living room, the right space to make new memories and friends while enjoying our activities; bright and spacious private bedrooms and bathrooms enhance the quality of life in these special household.
